ITST-Palu Survey Guidance

This guidance provides overview on how UNESCO will coordinate the International Post-Tsunami Survey for the Palu tsunami.

The Mission of ITST-Palu is

  • To understand the characteristics of the tsunami and its impact in both the near-source and distant regions
  • Provide information on the impacts to the Government of Indonesia to enable it toenhance their tsunami disaster risk management practice

The guidance has been updated with impacts through 22 October 2018.
Most importantly, a Visa 315 (researcher) is no longer required for conducting ITST-Palu Surveys.

MORTHE Letter to Palu Immigration Office, ITST-Palu Research Permits (970 KB)
Through this letter, the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education informed the Immigration Office in Palu about the ITST (including a list of international experts that had already received permits).  The last paragraph translates: considering there are a lot of international researchers going to Palu without a MORTHE permit, they are requested to take action in accordance to the law and regulation.
