IOC/ITSU-II - International Co-ordination Group for the Tsunami Warning System in the Pacific, Second Session, Vancouver, Canada, 12-14 May 1970

The meeting was opened by the Vice-Chairman of the Group, Dr. Pickard, acting on behalf of the Chairman who for medical reasons was unable to attend. On behalf of the host country and Department of Energy, Mines and Resources, Dr. Pickard welcomed the delegates and observers to the Univeristy of British Columbia, Vancouver.

He then passed the floor to the representative of Unesco and the IOC, Dr. Giermann, who welcomed the participants in the name of Unesco and of the IOC, and who thanked the host country for its offer to hold the meeting in Canada. Dr. Giermann agreed to become rapporteur. (List of participants: Annex I.)
