ITST-El Salvador Survey Guidance

UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) and International Tsunami Information Center (ITIC) coordinated an international post-tsunami field survey of the 27 August 2012 tsunami off El Salvador at the urgent requests of the Governments of El Salvador and Nicaragua (GoES, GoN). The mission of the International Tsunami Survey Team (ITST) was to:

- Understand and document the character of the tsunami and its impact in both the near-source
  region;
- Provide information on the impacts to the GoC/GoN to enable it to enhance their tsunami
   disaster risk management practice
